My Tilt Vid and is Google in the air?

December 15, 2007
Here is the video with my first thoughts on my Tilt. Sorry, it may a bit boaring and I say “um” a lot, but this is only the first. Sometime in the new year, I’ll have an orginized review on the device with what I loaded on it and different things. Oh, and my nail, yeah my thumb got shoved in a very fast and powerful fan. Ouch.

How much would pay for something that isn’t really an item or service, but just waves in the air we breathe? One dollar, five or even a few billion? The wireless spectrum of 700mhz is up for bid in the new year. What this means is that the winner, whether it be a wireless provider or not, get a piece of the very limited frequency band to to what they please. But, if Goolge were to snag it up, they have a chance to start up their own wireless service. What does this mean to us? Well for one, better competition. This may be just me, but I think today’s wireless service is boring. Yes, I get to travel the web from a fast network and have countless downloads coming from the sky, but something is missing. The problem is, I don’t know what. I firmly believe that if Google were to enter the wireless biz, they would answer that question. With that said, I want my gPhone already! Well, I want the Android on my Tilt anyway. If you have any thoughts on this, please post a comment.

Whicked Sweet!

November 29, 2007

Alright, this has nothing to do with Chuck Norris…..Or a donkey.

To start off, thanks for commenting. Second, the Vizio is great! I love every aspect (no pun) of it. My only gripe with my setup is when watching DVD’s, the skin of the actors looks bruised. I’m positive it is my DVD player, when I watch DTV everything looks great.

The band VADER! The Polish metal gods came to Colorado last night to the Cervantes Ballroom in 5 points Denver. Opening the bill were 4 other bands I never really heard of. Here is the breakdown.

  • Veil Of Maya– Don’t know what they sound like, showed up after their set.
  • Light This City– A good modern thrash band. Actually, they really remind me of At The Gates which is awesome. But the real kicker is the vocalist……Think Arch Enemy. Don’t get it? The vocalist is hot. And she can rock the mic. She has a great voice and an even better growl, there just wasn’t that many growl points. The guitar work is very well done, nice and harmonic. The drums have an occasional bast beat to make things brutal, and its a good touch to the band. The band had a great stage presence, but overall sounded distorted which could have been the venue. B+
  • Abigail Williams– err…umm…eh. The vocalist just chops every note up with the scremo yell from your grandma’s house. Didn’t care for them. F
  • Cattle Decapitation– What can be said about a name like that? “Gore not Core” sums it up, 100% ass kicking metal. The sound was, like the previous bands, distorted to the point where at some parts you could not distinguish any of the instruments. But, I have always what to see them live, so I’m happy. B
  • Malevolent Creation– This band drew the most pitting in the crowd (still not big, only about 80 people in the whole venue). Again, just punch each other in the mouth metal. Great riffs, awesome vocals, and sweet sound. I was wondering to myself why I have never heard of these guys, now I’m going to BUY their CD’s. A
  • VADER!!!!!– All it takes is one listen from this band……It will blow you away. Considered “Atmospheric” death metal, Vader will grab your throat and and rip your entrails out. The biggest disappoint with the Vader set is not with the band, nor the venue but the fans. By the time they were up on stage, half the crowd was no where to be seen. Yes, this gives the show a very intimate feeling, but not when you want an inferno mosh pit. The same situation happened when Destruction came to town. Given about ten people (including myself) did push each other around, but nothing lasted for more then a guitar solo. Shame. But on to VADER!!! Every note was clear, every beat of the drum was heared and every word growled was given life. Perfect volume, perfect set. Vader destroyed this place. They played mostly new stuff (2000-Present), but here is the list in no particular order:
  • Dark Age
  • Silent Empire
  • Sothis
  • Carnal
  • Black To The Blind
  • WingsXeper
  • Epitaph
  • This Is The War
  • Lead Us!!!
  • Shadowfear
  • Helleluyah: God Is Dead
  • Warlords
  • The Book

Yeah, this wasn’t the concert of the year (lack of metal support in Denver), but who cares, I got to see VADER!!!!

On to other news. Probably tomorrow, I will be getting my new phone. Not just the run of the mill Moto, but the Tilt. I fell in love with this thing in a T-Mobile store with their version, The Wing. But since I am already with AT&T, I got the Tilt. So, when I get it, I’ll put a video of the unboxing up and give my initial reactions. Next step, mobile blogging!

Edit: I just realized that this isnt letting be hyperlink any of the band websites. Sorry about that.
