My Birth Into HD Land, More Google and a Donkey?

November 8, 2007

Well, here it is, my first step, wait, first phase of my journey to HD land. Yes, the place exits…in my head. Anyway, I received my TV wall mount to day (thanks newegg!) and got it up. I could rant on how this mount is great, but seriously, it’s a wall mount. The true story is from newegg. For some odd reason they sent it 2nd day air. That’s great but a little sad because I still don’t have my TV. Ill let you know what I got tomorrow.

Phase One!

Besides my excitement for my new found enjoyment, yet another has come too. The almighty google has entered the cell phone business. This entrance is not how I expected it to be. I was thinking they would give Verizon permission to use their name on their proprietary POS phones. I was dead wrong. In fact, when I found out they are going to be using a mobile form Linux called “The Android” (remember Gonux?) as their foundation, I couldn’t have been more anxious to wait for a cell phone product. To top all that off, anyone will be able to use it since it is only the OS of the phone (so I’ve heard). If it does come down to only 2 or 3 carriers that will host an actual google phone (hardware too), I will not hesitate to grab that right off the self. I really think google will go ahead with having a phone manufactured by someone. When it comes down to it, how many people do you know that are willing to delete, if possible, their OS on the phone and load it with the Android? This OS is already red hot, why load it on old technology? I think it needs it’s own hardware, something as revolutionary as the OS. All we can do is wait….

Linus and Chuck

November 1, 2007

People pray to Jesus, but Jesus prays to Linus Torvalds.

There’s more….

Google is now my god. I cant tell you how I will be worshiping him (cough*adstuff*cough) but I do know he is the high ruler of all that is web (2.0). While I do support its web docs program to be a small diversion of the giant Office, I think to myself (what a wonderful world) what if one identity oversaw everything on the web? E-mail, search, video, blogs, web 2.0 apps (this is sounding familiar) all from this one presence off the web. Even the smaller web services that make our experiences great every time we get on could be apart of google. Would this integration have a bad impact on how we interact with each other and the web? I want to say no. I think it will ensure constancy throughout different aspects. Given there will still be a ton of other options to do just about everything and anything, google will have the standard to which others will be tested against. And maybe with all these free services from google, they will transcend into the open source market developing a Linux distro (google+Linux=Gonux?).

On the end note, I just cannot wait for my grubby hands get a hold of the google phone, because life will not be complete until google has been in my pockets.
